108 Apartment / CoDA arquitetos

December 14, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Despite the large offer of apartments in Brasilia, few of them offer versatile plans adapted to a contemporary way of living. The couple, Juliana and Alison, sought out CoDA to transform their apartment into a more cozy and functional space. The couple’s demands included a desire to expand their family in the future and to have a more stylish apartment. Among the favorite activities was the taste for cooking and receiving friends. From the beginning, the idea was to divide the space into two clear areas, the social, as integrated as possible, and the intimate, with the couple’s suite, the baby’s room, and an office, occasionally transformed into a guest room.

Housing Block Monzon / Domper Domingo Arquitectos

December 13, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

A multi-family, free-market housing block is developed, organized into four floors above ground and two floors below ground. The block consists of fifteen homes located on the ground floor and on the raised floors, three shops located on the ground floor and semi-basement and the garage and storage area that are located on the semi-basement and the basement levels. The project strategy stems from the three fundamental conditions that the site has; the urban situation of being on the limit of two distinct areas, the unevenness between access levels and the preservation of the historical-patrimonial value of the preexisting building. Faced with these conditions, two project criteria or modes of action are established.

B:Hive Offices / BVN + Jasmax

December 13, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The B:Hive concept has been conceived by Smales Farm as the first step in the transformation of a twentieth-century office park to a twenty-first-century engaged urban hub; and as such, this is a new model of office building – it is actually the antithesis of “office building” in that its’ genesis is to be a “place” for flexible, collaborative and community-engaged work attracting start-ups, small companies, and individuals. There are currently 100 individual companies in B:Hive.

Les Aimerigues Institutei / Barceló Balanzó Arquitectes + Xavier Gracia

December 13, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The new Institute is located on a plot at the edge of the housing area of the Aimerigues sector, on the threshold of future city growth and an area of parks of important dimensions limited by the street Icaria. The implementation is defined by the location of the building’s volumes within the plot: a compact volume aligned on the street Pablo Iglesias and a smaller volume that contains the gymnasium and that defines the access through a public space and the porch. The typological model proposed is of a compact nature with a bright and generous central corridor, with classrooms on both sides. An economical, compact, flexible and efficient volume.

Les Patios Health Center / A6A

December 12, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The project takes place at the crossroad of a large avenue in intense urbanization and a communal road leading to the city center. We propose an equipment whose urban scale is given by a simple form, structuring the new entry in the tertiary zone. The building is isolated from the public roads by a large raised garden around which the medical poles are organized. These different volumes are perfectly identifiable by their users.

Hotel Can Bordoy / OHLAB

December 12, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Can Bordoy -Grand House & Garden- is a small 24 room hotel with a magnificent garden, swimming pool, spa and panoramic terrace, located in the historic center of Palma de Mallorca. It is a complete renovation of a 2,500m2 abandoned building that had been heavily intervened throughout it’s more than 500 years of history. One of the most distinctive elements of the property is its garden, not only because of its size but because of the richness and antiquity of the existing vegetation. One of the project’s most important interventions has been opening the doors of the garden, until now unknown by the vast majority, to the city and giving it visibility from the entrance courtyard and from the street.
