Memorial Cemetery Parque das Cerejeiras / Crisa Santos Arquitectos

December 26, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Crisa Santos has a unique peculiarity on developing projects focusing on neuroarchitecture, which uses science to create projects that offer sensations and perceptions, causing emotions to users, aims to increase awareness and understanding of the impacts of architecture on the brain and human behavior. An example of this is the Parque das Cerejeiras´s revitalization project, located in Jardim Ângela, South Zone of São Paulo. A reference in the capital of São Paulo, the cemetery, with 300,000 square meters, has the architecture embraced by nature in a perfect symbiosis, reframing the contact of human beings with their most instinctive sensations in order to reestablish grief in a more natural way, through the practice of biophilia. Using parametric architecture for some structures, in addition to the use of outdoor environments, Crisa Santos designed this complex aimed at the public of the peripheral neighborhoods of the Zul region of São Paulo.

Apartamento en calle San Roque / Carlos Manzano Arquitectos

December 26, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The second floor of a centennial building in the heart of Madrid is transformed into a short-stay rental apartment. When the owner inherited her childhood home and returned 45 years later she found the house just as she remembered. She found an apartment divided into innumerable little tiny rooms, with high ceilings, a long corridor, tiled floors, and ocher-colored windows. This was her childhood home, but this time she saw something different: potential and a challenge. The Project of renovation pursues two fundamental premises: to Highlight the characteristic features of the original construction and to Rethink its distribution to accommodate it for its contemporary use.

3 in 1 Housing / Street Monkey Architects

December 26, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Many of our projects at street monkey architects are designed for off-site fabrication. Simply put, these projects are customized container construction, where the modules arrive to the site with finished walls, bathrooms and kitchens. The facades are finished on site after assembly. This method of construction is easily transferrable to different sites because so much of the work is completed in a factory. So, when a design sells well, the client inevitably wants to use it again. As an architect who feels a responsibility to design for context, this is a challenge.

Bucherer Flagship Store / Office Haratori + Office Winhov

December 26, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The Bucherer store is among one of the “Individuals” on the eastern-side of Bahnhofstrasse. Its peculiarity in bright natural stone is an important continuation of the character of the area. Securing the existing – a conversion – raises the question of permanence and generally about timelessness, innovation, and perfection – core principles of Bucherer. We carry the marble into the future, as well as the flat relief of the façade, the volume, the supporting structure and its order – a flagship store designed for Bahnhofstrasse.

School of Architecture, Crescent University / architectureRED

December 25, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Distinctly identifiable by its stepped terraces and red striated facade, the Crescent School of Architecture occupies a relatively small lot of the 60-acre university campus, in Vandalur, Chennai. The project brief envisioned studio spaces along with lecture halls and administration areas – which we chose to augment with necessary ‘de-programmed’ spaces for collective working and gathering. This allowed for the exploration of redefining not only the nature of spaces found in an architecture school but also offering us the possibility to inform the future pedagogic program that it could accommodate. Typically, a school would house endless corridors with rooms on either side. Spaces offering opportunity for discussions and chance encounter is severely limited, which in turn confines its users to following a dreary routine.

GA House / Esquadra Arquitetos

December 25, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The client’s first intention was to sell the house, a place where she was born and raised, built by her parents. The main idea was to build a new, small and very contemporary new house on another site. However, the old house and site had a priceless value for the owners, and so the decision was to make a full renovation, and the challenge to utilize most of the structural elements from the original construction.

Nordbro Complex Student Residences / Arkitema Architects

December 25, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The Nørrebro neighborhood is the melting pot of Copenhagen, characterized by an extremely diverse mix of residents, including many newcomers from other countries. There is a multitude of shops selling food from all corners of the world, and many different languages are spoken in the street. However, many steps have been taken in an attempt to open up the district and make it safe for everybody. One such initiative is the construction of about 500 student flats at its heart – the Nordbro complex. The aim of the project has been to derive the greatest possible value from creating a dynamic and vibrant scene for young people, to make it attractive for residents and non-residents to live and visit Nørrebro and to create a landmark for all Copenhageners.

House Ε / buerger katsota architects

December 24, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The small house is located in the third row from the Aegean shore in the randomly built Eastern Attika suburb of Artemis. The building houses the needs of a young small family, critically responding to its context as a parody of its own surroundings. The building aims at redefining the ‘ephemeral’ and flexible nature of living close to the coast, by achieving comfortable and high quality indoor and outdoor living spaces, revealing selected views to the sea while screening off its residents’ privacy from the close neighbors.
