SDC Dental Clinic / Takeru Shoji Architects

December 31, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The site is in Akiba town, Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture. We designed a clinic that is more than just a dental clinic, it is a daycare center, a bookstore and a place to enjoyably spend time, just ‘like a park’. Where a typical dental clinic is not a place to linger, this dental clinic encourages patients to come to the clinic for more than just their appointment, it gives them abundant ways of leisurely spending their time before and after their appointment. All occupants of the clinic are encouraged to spend their time ‘as they please’ enjoying the bookstore or daycare center. This gives way to a new type of dental clinic, which is ‘a place to stay’, ‘come again’ and comfortably spend time.

PRY1 Retreat Hotel / Research Studio Panin

December 30, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

PRY1 is located in Prachinburi, at a foothill of Khao Yai National Park known for its rich natural resources. Overlooking the mountains that are parts of Khao Yai National Park, the location of PRY1 is ideal for its purpose as a retreat hotel. Meaning “jungle,” the name PRY1 suggests its relationship with both its immediate manmade landscape and the natural surroundings beyond its vicinity. Appearing in its simplest geometrical form and architectural language, the hotel is designed to be a tacit background for both the activities of its guests and the ever-transforming natural environment around it.

Edificio González Luna / Estudio Macías Peredo

December 30, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

This apartment building is located in a patrimonial protected area, conformed by modern era style houses from the 50s in Guadalajara. This insertion allows permeability towards the gardens situated in front of the building. This gesture is reproduced by the building’s low interior walls, and permeable fences on its perimeter that hold a gardened base. The encounter of the reticulated strokes, non-parallel to the city’s urban planning, in a time where the goal was to break with this rigor established in the renaissance era, generated these triangular and trapezoidal sites all around the area.

Grange Hall House / Nissen Richards Studio

December 28, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Grange Hall is a former West Hackney National School, and is locally listed, being one of only two ecclesiastical buildings that survive in the Parish of West Hackney. Construction of the original school commenced in 1837 and was built for the newly formed West Hackney Parish that included St. James’ Church, rectory and burial ground. It is believed that the use of the building as a school ceased in the 1960s and had been occupied by an engineering component merchant for over 35 years until it was purchased by our developer client in 2013. The building occupies a prominent location on the corner of Evering Road and Leswin Road in Stoke Newington, London and is considered of significant townscape value.

House ROFR / Ralph Germann architectes

December 27, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Ralph Germann’s design for this house is driven by the building’s natural surroundings, environment-conscious technology, and a simple and timeless aesthetic. Built on a property on the heights of Sion, the 36-meter-long and 6.5-meter-wide building follows the lines of the hill like a wall in an orchard. A wall that protects and stabilizes the slope was the vision of Ralph Germann for this house. The grey color of the facade supports the idea of a protective rock.

House As A Continuation Of Memory / Ogawa Nishikori Architects

December 27, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

This house is in a serene landscape in Fukushima, Japan, where a 60s couple lives and their children come back on the weekend. Through the dialogue with them, we found they have a special feeling for their former house and the scenery there. Therefore, in this project, we thought about reconstructing the fragments of various scenes of the former house.
