Transformation of Saint Rocco’s Church into a Theater / Luigi Valente + Mauro Di Bona

The project is aimes to achieve the functional restoration of the former Saint Rocco’s church, for cultural purposes, while transforming it into a permanent theater and a multi-purpose hall. Mildly maintained over the years, the building has been affected by general renovation works on the roof with the addition of a reinforced concrete curb stiffened by transversal steel tie rods and the replacement of the original roof with a concrete and masonry structure.

Harrison St. House / Ryan Leidner Architecture

Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, a neighborhood known for its history and diversity, the Harrison St House adds a modern counterpoint to the urban context while creating a secluded sanctuary for a young family. Drawing on the courtyard-house typology, the project centers around an interior garden, which is the first space one experiences when entering from the street.

Mecidiyekoy Liqueur and Cognac Factory / Emre Arolat Architects

The old Liqueur and Cognac Factory and the magnificent garden in front had an important role in Istanbul’s physical and social memory; the garden was a key element in Mecidiyekoy district’s urban texture, and the historic Liqueur Factory was perceived as true industrial heritage. Between 2009 -2018, EAA’s efforts for the project site were primarily guided by the intention to design a project that understands the potential of this unique ‘place’, restores the value of the factory, and gives back a considerable amount of this land to the city and use of city dwellers.

São Lázaro Carpentry / Filipe Borges de Macedo

The building, an industrial heritage carpentry built in the 1930’s, was brought in 2010 by the Lisbon Municipality after a fire nearly destroyed it. After the acquisition by the Municipality, there were major structural rehabilitation works that revealed the extraordinary quality and expressivity of building. Some years later, the Municipality opened a contest to explore the carpentry as cultural center.

Hotel Henry at the Richardson Olmsted Campus / Deborah Berke Partners

Deborah Berke Partners has transformed the central portion of the National Historic Landmark Richardson Olmsted Campus into the Hotel Henry, a boutique hotel that celebrates the history and architecture of the monumental structure designed by the Henry Hobson Richardson. The project brings new life to a long-abandoned architectural masterpiece, originally designed as the Buffalo Asylum for the Insane, adding to the revitalization of the city and reinforcing Buffalo as center of great American design.

Country House in Lugar da Lapa / ADAPTEYE

The property is located in the vicinity of the rural nucleus of the Fornelos in Lugar da Lapa in the county of Cinfães do Douro. It is located about 10 km south of the “Passadiços do Paiva”, which in 2017 and 2018 were recognized as the Best World Adventure Travel Attraction. The owner intended to recover and expand a residential house in order to install a rural tourism project in the country side, to respond to the lack of accommodation with these characteristics in the region and at the same time contribute to the development of the local economy in a sustainable way.

Milton House / Estudio Atemporal

The project consisted on the final phase of the rehabilitation of a mid-century house that had been previously intervened in two initial stages between 2014 and 2016 in which the second and third floors were transformed into a temporary apartment and a terrace respectively.
