April 2, 2026 Susanna Moreira 0

Located in one of the most iconic urban contexts of Lisbon, the Zara Rossio project reflects a precise and careful approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal. Developed by Contacto Atlântico, one of the leading architecture offices in the country, this intervention demonstrates how high-quality architecture can engage with historically significant contexts while introducing a refined and contemporary spatial language. The project elevates retail architecture through a balance of technical rigor, spatial clarity, and sensitivity to the context.

The interior of Auga, an optical salon with specialist consulting rooms, was inspired by the process of seeing – a complex and precise biological mechanism. The shape of the space echoes the natural form of the eye, and elements within the interior reflect its internal anatomy. The color palette, shapes, and materials draw from the physiology of vision, creating a coherent visual narrative.

The Brand & Its Identity
While we started designing a retail space for the brand, we perceived Gully Labs as a celebration of Indian street culture, glorified, unified, and expressed through sneakers and apparel that pay homage to Indian craftsmanship and the raw vibrancy of the streets. Every element, from design to detailing, reflects this authenticity, positioning the brand not just as a retail destination but as a cultural movement. Its brand language, rooted in local identity yet aspirational in spirit, has been seamlessly translated into the very fabric of its retail design.

Fluted Volume / Studio UF+O

November 13, 2025 Pilar Caballero 0

On the high streets of Indian cities, retail showrooms often compete for attention with gleaming chandeliers, advertisement boards, and ornate façades. Fluted Volume, the 7,000 sq. ft. headquarters for a jewellery brand in Vijayawada, takes a radically different stance. Designed by Vineet Vora and Prachi Parekh of Studio Urban Form + Objects, the building asserts itself as a terracotta-hued monolith: at once sculptural, reticent, and quietly authoritative amid the cityscape. Its form emerges from a paradox that lies at the heart of the brief: how to create a building that must be visible to the public, invite footfall, and embody the brand’s identity.
