Project Overview: Mohammad, the proprietor of an esteemed export-centric carpet brand, has procured an antiquated domicile situated in the historic, renowned Bagh-e-Goushkhan district of Isfahan, which accommodates numerous carpet weavers. His intention was to bulldoze the whole existing structure and erect a contemporary building dedicated to floating activities: carpet weaving, exhibition, design atelier, and temporary lodgings for distinguished guests. Contemplating the project’s parameters, a critical query arose: due to the existence of treasured but dilapidated structures -either abandoned or completely demolished, replaced by multi-stories- can we acquire an adjustment to complete the puzzle by only adding a single novel structure? Could a solution be capable of meeting the client’s requisites along with minimizing structural disruption, waste production, and preventing reutilization of new materials?
The Castelatto Pavilion was implemented in the company’s industrial complex, located outside the urban area of Atibaia, surrounded by low hills and green areas. The production warehouses occupy a significant part of the land, but there are also preserved green areas and a riparian forest along the stream that surrounds the property. Between the riparian forest and the warehouses, a proportionate area was designated for the construction of the Pavilion, due to its representative and institutional character.

Rounge, A Furniture brand that began with an inevitable connection to trees – Nestled on Yangjae-daero, the building stands concealed by a stretch of plane trees. Once inside, vast windows reveal sweeping views of towering plane trees, offering a shifting sequence at each level. Ascending to the rooftop of this five-story structure, plane tree leaves touch the sky and rustle in the wind. Greenery envelops the middle floors, creating an immersion in the leafy expanse. On the second floor, the sturdy tree trunk and branches, and on the first floor, the thick tree trunk and the plants in the earthy soil create shadows as they are lit by the sunlight. This layered sequence of trees naturally leads one to imagine the roots in the soil.

The Farm, Fazenda Barreiro is located on the slopes of the Serrote mountains, the southernmost stretch of the Serra da Mantiqueira, in the municipality of Socorro/SP. Previously focused on horse breeding and later undergoing degradation due to the leasing of pastures for cattle raising, the farm has renewed activity and is definitely inserted in the context of the region’s vocation, coffee production.
