The original apartment was built in 1968 in accordance with the project by the architect Celestino Martínez. It features a common domestic display for deep urban block buildings, with a north-south distribution where the common home spaces extend from the north alignment towards the street to the opposite façade open to a south interior courtyard.
A young executive man from São Paulo is the resident of this 125m2 apartment. The apartment 73 at Edifício Flora was project by Studio ArquitetUras. “The client was incredible about the process of creation. He arrived at the office without images. We tried to understand his personality and lifestyle” explains the architect Luciana Uras.
Located in one of the most desirable and picturesque districts of Paris, this cosy, one bedroom 75m2 flat embodied most of the challenges commonly encountered in parisian elder buildings. Although daylight pours from windows on both ends, the apartment’s core seemed to stretch along a dark and rather narrow corridor. The new owner’s desire to make it a two-bedrooms was the perfect opportunity to give it a full fresh and comfortable refurbishment.
This project is based on two practically symmetrical apartments located in the Picoas neighborhood in a typical building of an early 19th century Lisbon.
A small community center built in CLT wood renews the local cityscape and invites people to cultural activities.
The project consists of the extension of the existing cottage, including the addition of a garage and a glass roof, as well as the renovation of the residence’s interior. Built over 50 years ago, the Saint Donat cottage required modifications to make it comfortable in summer and winter, while also adding value to the building by improving its energy efficiency. To follow a similar feeling to the original construction, the simple geometrical shapes, the use of wood in the interior and the use of raw materials such as stone, glass and steel are used throughout all aspects of the project.
The post-’99 city of Prishtina has had the burden as well as the delight of providing for an extensive part of Kosovo’s population. This has put a strain on the city’s urban development with a constantly growing number of illegal buildings and extensions, usurped public spaces, and an increasing disregard for the city by the citizens. One individual that tried to put an end to this city’s deterioration that had already begun was Rexhep Luci, a citizen and architect who at the time was working towards the demolition of illegal buildings. His work in this regard and almost every similar process was terminated when Rexhep was shot in front of his apartment in the capital. With Rexhep Luci’s murder, the city of Prishtina became the committer, the victim as well as the spectator of this crime. Years later, the street that bears the name of the architect that once started the fight against clutter and chaos, is one of the most cluttered and chaotic arteries of the city.
The Waterfront Botanical Gardens and Graeser Family Education Center sit on a former landfill site, which had been unusable and closed off to the public for decades. Today it has been redesigned into 23.5 acres of lush, verdant, sustainable public space: the first botanical garden in Louisville. The education center and surrounding trails and gardens provide green space to residents and visitors, while educating the public on topics of conservation and sustainability. There is programming for adults and children, as well as the opportunity for event rentals.
